Apéritifs
If you are invited, people might ask you if you want to drink a « vin cuit ». A vin cuit is an aperitif made with wine, alchohol, sugar and fruit. Drink it like that, with or without ice.
There are many different « vin cuit » :
Vin de noix (wallnut), vin de pêche (peach), vin d'orange (orange).
In summer, a pastis might be very appreciated. In a glass pour 1/5 pastis and 4/5 cold water. Pastis is funny, its colour changes when you add water. It
tastes like anise.
A kir is also very common.
Try also "hydromel", it's like a vin cuit, very sweet. Hydromel is made from honey. Drink very fresh.
