Documents you need to rent

You should be asked for :

your last 3 paychecks

your work contract (not always).

If you don't earn enough money (at least three times the amount of the rent), you will probably have to find a « garant » or « caution solidaire ».

What's this ?
It's someone who earns enough money and agrees to become your garant.
It means that if one day you don't pay your rent, this person will be responsible and can be asked to pay for you. That's why it's not really easy to find a garant. If you damage your house and can't pay for it, your garant is responsible for this too.
Your garant must sign the lease with you too.
